Description:JOB TITLE: Crisis Line Specialist PROGRAM AREA:
Crisis to HousingJOB OBJECTIVE: To actively participate in the
crisis to housing continuum at Oasis. This position specifically
provides coverage of the Oasis Crisis Line, safety planning,
referrals, and coordinated entry services to homeless/street youth
and at-risk youth in the Metro Nashville area. Direct
ServiceEssential Functions:
- Provide screening/first contact assessments and safety planning
to youth and young adults who are experiencing homelessness,
at-risk of experiencing homelessness, have runaway and/or are
seeking shelter services.
- Participate in street canvassing and street-based case
management for RHSY (runaway/homeless/street dependent youth) in
the community when needed.
- Facilitate timely referrals for clients to all Oasis Center
Crisis to Housing programming.
- Provide referral services and follow-through with appropriate
adjunct services, including mental health services, medical,
housing, etc. as needed.
- Assist young adults and their families in accessing the
Coordinated Entry System, when appropriate.
- Provide consistent, trauma-informed coverage of the Oasis
Crisis Line during business hours (9am-5pm)
- Provide safety planning sessions to youth, young adults and
their families (when needed) to overcome obstacles and resolve
conflicts involving youth and housing needs.
- Assist Outreach staff to provide essential services such as
meals, supplies, programming and outreach activities as
needed.
- Provide supervision to youth and young adults in Drop-In Center
during service center hours when needed.
- Occasionally assist in setting up, organizing and cleaning
Drop-In Center.
- Participate in staffing with supervisor and appropriate staff
on specific case related problems.
- Learn and operate from a trauma informed/positive youth
development approach to foster a safe healing environment to enable
youth to overcome their life challenges

AdministrationEssential Functions:
- Document client interactions in a timely, consistent and
ethical manner.
- Attend other agency networking/coordination meetings as
needed.
- Effectively capture data and track outcomes in agency database
and HMIS in a timely manner.
- Maintain consistent and timely records, to meet funding and
licensing requirements and document program spending.
- Prepare files and collect data on residents as assigned.
- Participate in staff and program development by attending
trainings and giving feedback.
- Attend weekly supervision and weekly team meetings.
Non-essential Functions: Serve on intra-agency and related
community committees when requested or representation is
significant to the agency.

Minimal Requirements / Performance Standards:
- Ability to effectively communicate in oral and written
form.
- Ability to monitor client interaction visually and
auditorily.
- Ability to maneuver stairs and uneven terrain.
- Ability to form strong, caring and affirming relationships with
all youth - specifically including LGBTQ+ youth.
- Ability to apply Motivational Interviewing principals and
operate from a Trauma Informed Care approach.
- Clear understanding of racial inequities and willingness to
operate from an anti-oppression model.
- Knowledge and ability to access community resources.
- Knowledge and ability to apply Positive Youth Development
approaches and an understanding of adolescent development.
- Ability to deliver services through a low barrier
approach.
- Valid driver's license and good driving record.Educational
Requirements: Bachelor's degree in a human service field.
