We are currently seeking an IT Project Manager (PMP-certified) to
join our client's team in Nashville, TN. Our client is a leading
provider of IT, finance, and consulting services for government
agencies. This onsite contract role has an expected duration of
6-12 months, and only local candidates will be considered.
Position Overview
The Technical Project Manager will oversee complex technical
projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they are delivered
on time, within budget, and within scope. This role requires at
least 8 years of experience managing technical projects for
government entities or transportation clients.
We are looking for a self-motivated leader with a strong technical
background and expertise in project management methodologies
(Agile, Waterfall). Candidates with prior experience in
transportation systems, infrastructure projects, or related
initiatives are strongly preferred.
This position requires daily onsite presence to collaborate with
stakeholders, lead meetings, and oversee project activities.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management:
Develop and maintain detailed project plans using Microsoft Project
and Smartsheet.
Oversee all phases of internal IT projects, including planning,
requirements definition, scheduling, tracking, and resource
management.
Ensure successful project completion by meeting schedule, budget,
and quality objectives.
Define project scope, objectives, and stakeholder requirements.
Prepare and monitor project budgets, ensuring
cost-effectiveness.
Track work performed by IT teams to ensure timely and efficient
execution.
Identify, document, and mitigate project risks, issues, and
dependencies.
Conduct regular project meetings and provide status reports to
senior management and stakeholders.
Develop and implement quality control and assurance processes.
Maintain alignment between technical teams and business
objectives.
Stakeholder & Team Collaboration:
Lead cross-functional teams (engineers, analysts, developers) in
designing and implementing web-based application modules.
Serve as the central point of contact for all project-related
communication.
Facilitate collaboration between upper management, government
officials, clients, and other teams.
Ensure projects align with client expectations and industry best
practices.
Risk & Change Management:
Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks throughout the
project lifecycle.
Implement change control processes to manage scope, budget, or
timeline adjustments.
Develop contingency plans for potential project disruptions.
Technical Leadership & Quality Assurance:
Provide technical guidance to teams, ensuring adherence to best
practices.
Select and evaluate appropriate technologies for project
success.
Conduct quality audits to ensure compliance with standards and
project requirements.
Qualifications & Required Experience
Technical Expertise:
Strong understanding of software development methodologies (Agile,
Waterfall).
Knowledge of programming languages, databases, operating systems,
and cloud computing platforms.
Proficiency in technical project management tools (Microsoft
Project, Smartsheet, JIRA, Confluence).
Project Management & Leadership:
PMP certification (Required).
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT,
Cybersecurity, or related field.
Minimum 8 years of experience managing technical projects.
Proven track record of successful project delivery.
Strong risk management, problem-solving, and decision-making
skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced
environment.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
Strong collaboration and leadership abilities.
