Job Description:
Job Summary: This position receives training and mentoring for
growth to the position of Field Engineer Level 2. TWF will provide
training and set milestones to be accomplished before promotion to
the next level. This position holds the responsibility of assisting
the Field Superintendent to reach and maintain company goals in the
areas of safety, schedule, and quality.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist supervisors in orienting new employees.
- Assist supervisors in maintaining awareness of safety rules and
procedures among personnel, as well as identify safety hazards and
implement corrective actions.
- Assist in inspecting work performed by sub-contractors and TWF
employees, ensuring quality control.
- Seek and study problems, incomplete or ambiguous design
information, and any other questions or issues presented by
sub-contractors, vendors, designers, TWF employees, or others.
Assist the superintendent in resolving issues promptly.
- Assist supervisors in coordinating materials procurement and
delivery.
- Participate in job layout, verifying elevations and
dimensions.
- Assist the superintendent in properly documenting requests for
information (RFIs).
- Monitor safety inspection and incident logs and reports.
- Process day-to-day administrative items (i.e. invoice and
purchase ticket coding, entering employee timecards into
system).
- Prepare special reports, studies, and statistical analysis at
the request of supervision.
- Participate in job site meetings.
- Perform additional assignments at supervisor's direction.
Knowledge, Experience & Competencies:
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree in
Construction Management or similar major preferred
- Must possess a valid, state-issued driver's license
- Minimum of six months of work experience in a commercial
construction environment or completion of two construction-related
internships.
- Ability to read and understand construction documents
- Ability to calculate correct concrete and lumber
quantities
- Must have basic competencies in mathematics and be able to
perform math operations rapidly and accurately
- Should possess excellent supervisory skills
- Good interpersonal skills with customer-service orientation as
well as ability to maintain confidentiality
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Good computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook,
and internet-based applications
- Ability to operate basic office equipment including computer,
printer, copier, scanner, and mobile phone/radio
- Ability to operate pickup truck
- Must obtain OSHA Construction 30-Hour certification within 8
months of being in this position
- Ability to work various hours designated by the supervisor to
meet the demands of the project schedule. This may include weekend
work.
Travel Requirements:
- Daily travel to various job site locations within 100-mile
radius of office
- Occasional travel to meetings or events within 50-mile radius
of office, 4 - 6 times per year
- Occasional out-of-town assignments
Physical Demands of Job:
- Ability to work outdoors and indoors without temperature
control continuously
- Ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or 10
to 25 pounds of force frequently, or up to 10 pounds of force
constantly to move objects without assistance from other personnel
or lifting equipment
- Constant standing, frequent walking, occasional
kneeling/squatting/climbing
- Ability to maintain balance while walking and working on
scaffolds and ladders
- Ability to reach for, grasp, and manipulate construction
materials and tools
- Ability to see well (naturally or with correction)
